The Venue
The event will take place at the fabulous Missenden Abbey, a 12th Century former medieval abbey, set within 10 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of the Chilterns.
It sits in the beautiful Buckinghamshire Village of Great Missenden. A place that was once the home of Roald Dhal, the famous children’s author, and is also the home of the Roald Dhal Museum.

Knitting Creative Beginner Knitting Opportunities
The One-Day Retreat
The day will begin at 10 am with welcoming coffee/tea and pastries, and you will get straight down to learning how to knit. A delicious lunch, and perhaps a stroll in the beautiful grounds (weather dependent) will also be included.
All materials and tools that you need to start knitting will be provided and you will begin with small needles, and individual help from your tutor, to learn the knit stitch.
Once you have mastered that and enjoyed a delicious lunch, you will learn how to cast on your stitches and start knitting your magic bunny. Bunny would make a gorgeous gift for a friend, child or new baby; however, most new knitters feel very close to their bunny and prefer to keep him – or her, for themselves!

Everyone will work at their own pace, and you could, perhaps, make a start on learning the purl stitch and crafting a gorgeously soft washcloth. Whether you get the washcloth started or not, you will have the materials and instructions to make it, and more bunnies, to take home with you to complete in your own time.
I don’t know whether Mr Dahl was a knitter, but you will be once you have completed this high-quality workshop, with your expert tutor.

Teaching Philosophy: a message from Amanda
I am a knitting coach with a tried and tested method to help people to knit so that they can use this special craft as a portable, mindful, creative hobby or business.
I learned to knit as a child, and knitting ever since has brought me to an expert level.
As an experienced teacher, I believe that it is important firstly, for everyone to have the right tools and materials to create a successful, satisfying project, and secondly, for everyone to learn at their own pace and to express their own creativity as they progress their craft.
You will see this in my beginner classes, everyone was a beginner just a few weeks ago, or a few months ago and everyone is learning at their own pace and level.
Throughout the ages, knitting has always been a social activity, and that seems even more important today.
I work hard to ensure that all lessons are fun and include time for everyone to get to know each other and feel part of the group.
